Fees

You may be asked to sign an Engagement and Fee Agreement; if not, a letter may be sent outlining the basis of representation. The purpose is to spell out what we will be doing (and not doing) and what you will be paying (and not paying). It is intended to avoid any misunderstandings between us.  Regardless of whether there is a written agreement or letter, these are some of the component financial parts of your relationship with us:

FEE
DESCRIPTION
Hourly Rate Services will be billed on an hourly basis with fractions of hours computed to the nearest one-tenth of an hour. The minimum time charged for any activity is one-tenth of an hour.

New clients are billed at an hourly rate of $200.00 for Stephen Canders.

The billing rate for our paralegals is $75.00 per hour.
Advance Payment for Litigation and Other Matters For our services, we may require an advance payment, or "retainer." The amount depends on the nature and difficulty of the matter.

For litigation matters, other than personal injury cases, the normal amount is $3,000, but more could be required depending on the nature of the case.

For other matters, including review, invesigation and analysis of a matter, the normal amount is $1,000.

Normally, commercial and real estate transactions do not require a retainer.

You must replenish any advance as it is used, unless otherwise agreed.

Any balance remaining after services are fully completed will be refunded to you.
Expenses and Costs You are responsible for the payment of all expenses and costs attributable to your matter.
Statements Concerning Legal Services We operate on a thirty day billing cycle. You will be billed on a monthly basis. Payment is due within 30 days of the date on the invoice.
Interest If payment is not made in a timely manner, interest will accrue on your balance at the rate of 12% per annum.
