Douglas D. Hendrick
Doug is now officially a Judge Advocate Officer, commissioned as First Lieutenant. He is presently on active duty, stationed overseas. While he is on active duty, Doug will be on a leave of absence. Matters can be handled, by the firm, but not directly by Doug until he returns. His input, but not his immediate involvement, can be arranged.
When Doug is not on a leave of absence, he practices in the areas of real estate, construction and design contracts, federal government contracts, estate planning, business law, commercial and general civil litigation, and appeals. He has been practicing law since 1998. A Maine native, he attended college in Colorado and is a graduate of Regis University and the University of Denver. He is admitted to practice in state and federal courts in both Maine and New Hampshire as well as various other federal courts, including the First Circuit Court of Appeals in Boston the U.S. Court of International Trade, and the U.S. Court of Federal Claims. From 1998 to 2003 Doug had a diverse general practice, including civil litigation, state and federal appeals, real estate, estate planning, commercial
transactions, bankruptcy, child protection, and criminal defense. He also served as New Hampshire local counsel in Chapter 11 matters for the law firm of Bonneau & Geismar. More recently Doug has advised and assisted in the negotiation and management of construction and architecture/engineering contracts for the United States Government, both in Maine and in the Middle East.
Before graduating law school, Doug worked for the U.S. Department of Labor Office of the Solicitor and also participated in the largest criminal case in US history, the Oklahoma City Bombing case, as an intern to Randall Coyne, death penalty consultant for the defense team for Timothy J. McVeigh.
Doug was a member of the Maine Army National Guard where he served as a Construction Engineering Supervisor. In 2003, he closed his practice abruptly when his unit, the 133rd Engineer Battalion, was mobilized. From March 2004 to February 2005, he served in Mosul, in the northern Iraqi province of Ninevah. Most of that time Doug spent working with the Coalition Provisional Authority and the U.S. Embassy Office, Mosul, administering contracts for the reconstruction of the city of Mosul. This was his second combat assignment, having served in the 1990-91 Gulf War.
In addition to his professional practice and military duties, Doug has a number of other pursuits. He has been active in the Gulf of Maine Ocean Racing Association as a crewmember aboard the Sailing Vessel Beausoleil out of Falmouth. He and his wife, Jessica, raise farm animals organically at their home with their three boys, William, Samuel, and Lloyd.
